Risk communication
is an integral part of risk management.
It has been described as -
“…..
an interactive
process
of exchange
of information
and opinion
among
individuals,
groups
and
institutions.
It involves
multiple
messages about
the nature
of risk
and other messages,
not strictly
about
risk, that express
concerns,
opinions
or reactions
to risk
messages or
to
legal
and institutional
arrangements
for risk management"

Project: Risk
communication and risk
attitude
The project recognises
the importance of communication
about risk within organisations
and its relationship to
risk attitude, and communication
between an organisation and its stakeholders.
This project has as
its primary
goal the development of a better understanding in New Zealand of
the concept of risk communication
to improve the quality
of decision-making, particularly
in technology-oriented environments at central and local government
levels,
as well as in public service providers and commercial organisations.
