Decription:
Based
on papers given at a seminar on
'New and Emerging Renewable Energy
Opportunities in New Zealand', which
was held in Rotorua on 11 March,
1996.
Hydro power and geothermal energy
are mature technologies which are
well understood and at present extensively
used in an economically competitive
energy environment. This is in contrast
to the more 'non-traditional' renewable
energy technologies described herein,
which are judged to be likely to
become economically feasible to
be applied in New Zealand in the
near to medium future (at least
in certain areas of application),
but which have not yet been taken
up commercially to any large extent.
Topics covered include:
Solar Energy Systems
• Solar Photovoltaic Electricity
* Solar Thermal Energy
* Passive Solar Heating Resource
Biomass Energy Systems
* Forest Biomass
* Agricultural Biomass for Energy
* Woody Biomass Conversion Technologies
* Municipal Solid Waste Processing
for Energy
Water Energy Systems
* Small Hydro Potential
* Wave, Tide and Ocean Current Power
Wind Energy Systems
* Wind Power Generation
and additional material and discussions
topics raised during the seminar.
